The Conspirationist

I was not really sure whether there actually was a word like "conspirationist", but when MS Word highlighted the word in red, I knew that my hunch was right. There is no such word as that.
But even if there isn't a word like that, it is the word which best captures the state of mind which is common to most Indians , including me : belief in the theory of conspiracy !
We always strive to find the conspiracy behind every statement, every act, every gesture, and every something !

Sample this:

One 'human rights' activist believes that the Indian Government has a ulterior motive behind the UID project. The activist believes that it is nothing but a conspiracy hatched by the Indian Government to peep into the lives of Indians, an attempt to break their privacy ! Impressive !!

On a different note, many ( or some?) retailers believe that Walmart (and likes) real intention is to rule over India. According to them once Walmart and other retailers are allowed into India, they will simply wipe out the retailers, more commonly known as the 'mom and pop stores'. Hmm !

The Communists would want us to 'look' into every move of the 'imperialist' United States as some sort of conspiracy. Predictable !

The likes of Arundhati Roy ( or perhaps someone else) would have us believe that the 9/11 attacks were a part of conspiracy hatched by the US Government to manufacture an excuse of going to the War in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Some have also suggested that Neil Armstrong never landed on the Moon, and it was a conspiracy of the US to fool the world in order to get ahead of Russia in the technology race. Oh !

By the way how can be forget the clan which has mastered the art of being a conspirationist to the fullest?
If A Raja is caught, it is because of the conspiracy of his political rivals.
If Mayawati has a case frame against her, it is the result of conspiracy hatched by "anti dalits" and "manuvadis".
If Laloo appears in the Media for another not-so-pleasant reason, he blames it to the conspiracy of "communalists".
Mind you, the theory of conspiracy has not been mastered only by the above three 'students' of the discipline, but rather is served as a basic foundation course across the political parties for the "wannabes" politicians ! Inspiring !

PS: It must however be said that the not all attempts to 'think' of a conspiracy theory are futile; some even provoke decisions which turn out to be the rational ones.

By the way, have you started thinking of the 'real' reason, my 'real' intention of this post ????

  1. Nicely written and protrays our conspirationist mentality(including mine) :P
Perhaps its something to do with some historical conspiracies hatched against us. The East India Company's design is one of the biggest conspiracies hatched against us.
Conspiracy theories have been peddled as excuses, justifications and ideological propagation. They range from somewhat true to insanely untrue(like considering UID as a conspiracy..haha!)
However some of the conspiracy theories do help us in embedding safety nets in our policies. So their importance also cannot be undermined.

PS: Waise the moon landing conspiracy theory was too convincing, isn't it? :P
