BROAKING NEWS !!

Got used to hearing, listening and watching the same old and cliched 'breaking  news'?
Relax.
The Indian Media has decided that enough is enough, its time to move forward. Gone are the days when you will be forced to find the 'breaking' element in the 'breaking news', we now present before you BROKING NEWS.
Yes, you read it right, there is no spelling error, it is indeed BROKING NEWS.

It is said that the Indian democracy stands on four pillars, Judiciary, Executive, Legislature and the Media. The first three are beyond reach for most of the Indian masses, so Media has decided to assume the role of the other three.

It will 'prosecute ' people publicly and provide a live streaming of it. Forget the cases pending in the courts for decades, now get a dose of instant justice, ''instant insaaf''. The fact that this 'insaaf' comes from Rakhi Sawant or  Barkha Dutt or someone else is immaterial. You have a grievance, come to the Media, it has a cure for every disease.

There is one unwritten caveat however, don't come up with issues related to the Media itself, or else you wouldn't be heard. After all, Media will highlight only those issues which will portray the bright side. However, if  you dare to cross the 'unwritten ethical codes of conduct', as was evident in the case of recent 'Radio-tapes' issue, you would simply be ignored. Okay, you may raise hue and cry over it, and then the Media will air a one off show and justify why the whole issue is 'base-less', but in general you wouldn't be given space on the Media. And without Media, how will you communicate with the people?

In the recent case you heard arguments like " it is a doctored tape", " it has been edited", "it has been cited out of context", " I did not mean what I said", " I am being attacked because I am a woman", " these have violated the norms of journalism", "these are ethically wrong". Next time you dare to  raise finger on the Media, and it will be you and not the Media which will be put on trial. "What are your intentions?", " Which party do you belong to?", "Why raise the issue now and not earlier?", " Why the issue against only a section of individuals and not others?", these are illustrative sample questions, the barrage of which you should be prepared to handle if you dare to cross the line.

And please, for God sake, don't tell that these are the types of reasons which these "stalwarts" and others in the media used to reject earlier. Also do not mention that these arguments smack of double- standards and hypocrisy.

Try to look at the 'larger picture' which the Media wants to show you. These are the same 'larger picture' which you were informed  at the time of Tehelka, N D Tewary case and many others.
Don't be ignorant to that fact and cry over such a 'trivial' issue of Radia.

So what if Mr. X and Ms. Y talk to Ms. Z?
What proof do you have that they indeed did what they claim to do?
What is the proof that they indeed met those they claim to meet?
What is the proof that these tapes are not doctored?

It is an era of 'ethical convenience' and be accustomed to it.
You will be left behind if yous till live in the era when the Media was considered  the most trusted pillar of the democracy.

Trust is trivial

Now don't get me started on the issue that in the absence of trust it will be very difficult to do any transaction with any of the pillars of the democracy.  Don't argue that the Media is the most trusted and the most approachable of the four pillars. Try to appreciate the 'trust' between the 'pillars' of the democracy and the Corporate.

By the way if we have already defined the four pillars of democracy, what will we label the Corporate as?
