The IPL Team of 2010 : ZooZooZ are back

The IPL season is back !!
After the positive response to the IPL team of 2009, the selectors  are back with the IPL team of 2010. There has been a delay of couple of days in picking the team compared to the last year, but it only shows the merit of the players in contention this year, which forced the selectors to think hard (something which the Indian selectors don't like to !) !!
The rules remain the same and performances of players in 2010 only have been taken into consideration while picking up the team. The name remains the same: ZooZooZ ( which was the flavor in 2009), though one also considered for a while the Deceivers (which is the theme for 2010).

1) Salman Butt- No if, no but, only BUTT !! Yes, Salman Butt is the best opener, going by his performances, both on field and off field this year. He is aggressive, yet sports a oh-so-cute face which you require to deceive the opponents (and the public) . He is the first deceiver of the team. Forget that you had heard or seen him talking to some Majeed fellow. Those were nothing but conspiracies hatched by the opponent teams to demotivate Salman. Salman is not the one to be cowed down by ICC or whatever. He is an aggressive opener, a stylish batsman, and most importantly a person whom you can rely upon to do the job (If not by his batting, he knows at least how to FIX up the things). We hope we hear and see him in more deceiving roles in the coming year.

2) A Raja-  Another deceiver for the opener role, one who has a oh-I-don't-know-anything look, but one who knows pretty well how to manage all types of deliveries, whether it be 2G, 3G, or 4-5-6 G. He has both the capacity and the determination to play a long innings. And if by chance he does not get that, he knows how to 'perform' in a short span of time. The openers considered for the team this year are different from those considered last year. While the last year openers were aggressive, this year openers are calm in nature. But their calmness is not to be taken as a sign of innocence or meekness. They will do what they want, and do it without anyone doubting them. This ability to deceive is what counts. Hope he continues to 'perform' as well the next year too.

3) Neera Radia- The noticed deceiver !! People just don't realise how difficult it is to manage the top two corporate houses, the media, and the politicians, all at the same time. The selectors however understand how tough it is, and they have accordingly decided to recognise the immense potential in Radia ! The most entertaining stuff on the tapes this year were not any music number, but the conversations Radia had with some ( or should I say many) people. From a number 3 batsman you expect calmness, technique, flair, dependability, the ability to deceive the opponents, and many other things which Radia possesses in abundance. The best number 3 indeed.

4) Ashok Chavan- If Radia was the noticed deceiver, Chavan is the un-noticed deceiver ! If at all there was an example of a subtle man who redefines the meaning of being poor, it is Ashok Chavan. Don't go by media reports that flats were gifted to his relatives or the relatives of other 'poor' politicians in Adarsh Society. These are all 'baseless' rumours. Ashok Chavan has the ability to manoeuvre the state and the innings in such a way that one will hardly notice him. And by the time he is noticed, he will, or his party will ensure that the limelight is diverted to some other player. The media might have currently forgotten him, but his performances this year has not gone unnoticed by the selectors and he is here in the team !

5) Rakhi Sawant- Moving away from deception for a while, we look for some charisma and aggression, and we start and stop at Rakhi Sawant ! Justice got a new definition this year when Rakhi Sawant decided to redefine it. After all, in her words "maine duniya dekhi hai" ! Indeed, she has seen a lot and we have been seeing a lot (of her and from her) in the last couple of years. She was there in the team last year because of her ability to bat, bowl, field and also do umpiring if need arises. This year she strengthened her credentials and has cemented her place in the team as an allrounder. Expect her to come in more shades next year too !

6) Lalit Modi- Aggression continues. Another allrounder. He is fast, aggressive, and may also be rough at times. The selectors this year were of the view that it is unjust to keep the person who started it all away from the game. So if the BCCI decides that he cannot run the show, our selectors have decided that he can then be in the show !

7) Suresh Kalmadi- The master of deception mixed with some aggression and a bit of flair ! The one man army. Suresh Kalmadi. The player of the Common Wealth Games 2010 !If at all there has to be an epitome of calmness, or an example of a person handling tough situations, it has to be the example of Kalmadi prior to CWG. When all gave up hopes on him, he reminded all of us why he is the boss of IOA and the CWG. It is a different thing to do things unnoticed, and it is all together a different thing to do things openly in front of all and to defense it too. It requires courage, determination, and willingness to 'perform'. Suresh Kalmadi has it all, and he is the third allrounder of the team !

8) Lalit Bhanot - The second find of the Common Wealth Games 2010. A partner to Kalmadi, Bhanot recorded his name in the books with the un-forgettable statement - Indians and the foreigners have different definitions and perceptions of hygiene. In other words, what may be un-hygienic for them is perfectly fine with us Indians. Sometimes, one performance is all you need to get noticed, and Bhanot did have that impact on our selectors !! By the way, he is the deceiver spinner of the team !.

9) Ajmal Kasab- The main spinner of the team who was there in the team last year too. He has a passion for spinning tales and he carries this passion to the ground also !! He can laugh in the courts, cry if he wants or mock the judges. One day he is the aspiring actor from Pakistan, the other day he is the innocent tourist from Pakistan. Keep on spinning lad !!.

10) Shibu Soren- Medium pacer cum master player, Soren knows how to remain in the thick of action at all times. Last year he lost elections and his son. This year, he continued to play drama in Jharkhand along with his son. One day he was dating the morally superior BJP, the other day he was flirting with the ever flirtatious Congress. Presently me may not be holding any position in Jharkhand, but that will not stop this 80+ player to design some more new tricks. We wait in anticipation !!

11) Dolly Bindra - Now for some raw pace and aggression. The star of Big Boss-4, her position in the team was highly debated upon, but as a respect to the numerous reality channels and shows, the selectors decided to pick her as a mark of respect to the reality fraternity. After all, having witnessed the selection of Indian cricket team over the years, one can say that selections are not always based on performances alone !!

Managers of the team- The Big Boss House. The unanimous choice. You can bank upon Colors channel in general, and Big Boss in particular to come up with mind boggling selection of contestants cum players, and then to manage them. Monica Bedi, Veena Malik, Rakhi Sawant's mother, Rahul Mahajan etc etc are just an example of their prowess to manage 'high' profile players.
