Of the Arundhati Roys....

Sometimes you need to know how bad things can turn out to be in order to understand how good things actually are !
Sometimes you also need to know how unfortunate u can be in order to realise how fortunate you actually are !
This is something which Arundhati Roy and her cohorts need to understand.

Sample this : 1) the wife of arrested 'Maoist sympathizer' Binayak Sen commented last week : I wish we were in some 'liberal democratic country', and not India. We fear for our lives here.

2) Arundhati Roy : Maoists are fully justified in taking up arms against the 'Indian State'.

more liberal country than India?
Which country is Mrs Sen referring to?
China?
Bangladesh?
Pakistan?
Which liberal country?

And coming to Ms. Roy, are the Maoists fully justified?
Justified??

Statements like these and many other puzzling quotes of her her likes have come as a shock to the Indians, the residents of the 'Indian State'.
Here is some award winning author who has found out newer and innovative ways to remain in media, and what better way than to denounce your country every single time !
The very fact that Ms. Sen and Ms. Roy are able to continue uttering such statements, and that too in front of the national media should convince them and all others about the 'liberal' credentials of the country .

And even if we acknowledge her comments about the failures of Indian state ( which at times is true), no way does it justify taking up arms in your hand and go on committing crime.

For quite some time there have been continuous and numerous attempts made by the likes of Arundhati Roys to glorify the Maoists and their 'noble' intentions. Some of them have even compared Maoists to followers of Gandhism !
These people have been given, and continue to be given way too much coverage than they deserve. The media must draw a line and should think twice before giving them the oxygen of publicity. But alas, the Indian Media is too 'mature' to think of such things !

The fact that in-numerous lives of innocent civilians, army jawans, para military personnels, government servants, and policemen have been lost as a result of Maoists' activities should  be sufficient enough evidence for the people to realise the dangers of Maoism.
Maoists are in no way followers of Gandhi. Although Arundhati Roy and her cohorts may continue to think otherwise.
The likes of Ms. Roy have an uncanny ability to look into the 'other side' when there isn't any 'other side' !

However, when one denounces Maoists, one does not believe for a moment that the government is innocent in all this affair. Government policies towards the tribals and their rights have been far from convincing, but that does give anyone the right to indulge in crime and violence.

The Maoists' violence of today is not the 'glorious' struggle of the tribals as people like Arundhati Roys would like us to believe. It is in fact nothing but a well planned and orchestrated crime against the nation !
There is more to it than meets the eye.

Now a bit about Binayak Sen. Dr Binayak Sen was accused of acting as a courier for one of the jailed Maoists in Chattisgarh. Evidences were produced in the courts, and the court found him guilty of the crime. He was awarded life sentence for this by the one of the lower courts in Chattisgarh. While one might question over the quantum of sentence awarded to him, one cannot go on to the other extreme and try glorifying the actions of Binayak Sen and justifying it by hook or crook.

One needs to acknowledge and admit that the Maoists of today are more anti nationals than being pro tribals, and they pose a imminent and great threat to the fabric of India. In such a situation then, if someone tries to assist them directly or indirectly, then that person should be held responsible for such actions.
There cannot be any hiding away from this.
The role of civil society in this context become very important. They not only have to continue opposing the violence, but they also need to reject the blabbering of Ms. Roy and likes.

By the way I have been wondering for a while, whom will Ms. Roy justify now?
